Cebu City starts jabbing senior citizens

CEBU CITY – The city health department here started its vaccination rollout for senior citizens Monday.

The vaccination was conducted at Robinsons Galleria mall and University of Cebu-Banilad campus, said Dr. Jeffrey Ibones, chief of the Cebu City Health Department.

Those who received the COVID-19 vaccines were part of the 88,000 senior citizens who were eligible to be inoculated based on the masterlist of the Department of Health-Central Vsiayas (DOH Region 7).

Senior citizens are part of A2 in the priority list of the government's vaccination program.
Ibones said senior citizens were advised to follow their schedule of vaccination to ensure that protocols on social distancing will be observed.

CoronaVac of Sinovac Biotech was used to vaccinate the senior citizens in this city which has 5,000 doses of Sinovac vaccine intended for them. “Hopefully we can finish the vaccination in within five days," said Ibones.

Most of the senior citizens who trooped to the vaccinations sites were residents of Barangay Mambaling and Mabolo here. More senior citizens from other barangays will be accommodated in the coming days, said City Councilor Dave Tumulak.

To save them from hassles, senior citizens were picked picked up by buses from designated places and were transported back to their barangays after vaccination.
