The Bulacan provincial police arrested 25 individuals who were conducting illegal cockfighting (tupada) in the province which is banned while the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) is being enforced.
Col. Lawrence B. Cajipe, Bulacan police director, identified the arrested illegal gamblers as Galo Rizo, Robert Cuizon, Abraham Bonaobra, Vic Gallarde, Antonio Beruela, Elmer Reyes, Manolo Cruz, Nelson Versoza,, Eddie Reyes, Roland Esguerra, Angelito Bulanadi, Eliseo Sagara, and Victor Santos.
Also arrested were Rizalino Tuvera, Nicanor Bulacan, Meliton Bistal, Roger Taduran, Hilario Gado, Mauro Gado, Roberto Purgatorio, Bren Zalatar, Epipanio Padon, Crecencio Gado, Gerardo Arevalo and an unidentified 17-year-old male.
Cajipe said the suspects were arrested in different anti-illegal gambling operations conducted by authorities of the City of San Jose Del Monte (CSJDM), City of Meycauayan, and Bulacan First Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) in Barangay Sto. Cristo CSJDM; Barangay Tabon, of Pulilan, and Brgy Caingin of Meycauayan City.
Recovered during the operations were four fighting cocks, seven dead fighting cocks, 14 gaffs, and bet money amounting to P11,350.
