American power belter Pia Toscano and Fil-Am music director Troy Laureta have released the goosebump-inducing music video for their version of the popular OPM love song “Kailangan Kita.”
The music video—which was directed by Ace Barro of NX Agency Co.—shows Troy passionately playing the piano as Pia renders her poignant rendition of “Kailangan Kita” in a dark neutral backdrop that gave more depth to the performance.
Filipinos were in awe of the collaboration, praising Troy’s efforts to promote OPM globally and appreciating the former “American Idol” season 10 finalist’s commitment to give justice to the song that was originally composed by Ogie Alcasid and popularized by Regine Velasquez.
“Thank you so much Troy for promoting OPM to the international scene and for never forgetting your roots,” commented Ian Joseph Tagimacruz on YouTube.
“For me, this is the best cover of ‘Kailangan Kita.’ It was beautifully arranged and sung. Thank you Sir Troy and Ms. Pia for giving justice to the song. Congratulations!,” said John Enrique Torrazo.
The release of “Kailangan Kita’s” music video comes after Jake Zyrus dropped the music video for another “KAIBIGAN” track “Usahay” last February, which exhibited one’s complicated romantic journey.
“Kailangan Kita” and “Usahay” are among the featured tracks in “KAIBIGAN: A Troy Laureta OPM Collective Vol. 1,” which had world-renowned artists AILEE, Cheesa, Jake, Matt Bloyd, Nicole Scherzinger, Pia, Regine Velasquez, and Sheléa come together to individually interpret classic OPM ballads.
