Priest named 'social media influencer' awardee


A parish priest has been named male social media influencer at the 2020 Catholic Social Media Awards (CSMA).

Reverend Father Joseph Fidel Roura, the parish priest of Quasi-Parish of Our Lady of La Salette at the Muzon village of San Jose del Monte, was recognized during the virtual awarding ceremony on Thursday, April 15.

"Naging posible po ang award na ito dahil po sa inyong walang sawang suporta. Salamat Panginoon! Salamat po sa inyo! Tagumpay po natin ito pare-pareho!" Roura wrote in his Facebook page.''

"Patuloy po sana nating gamitin ang social media sa pag-infect ng 'virus ng ebanghelyo' sa maraming tao," he added.

Roura is known for his YouTube vlogs, reflections, and archive of his homilies. He has over 270,000 subscribers on YouTube.

His Facebook page "Three Nails and A Crown" currently has 2.1 million followers.

Meanwhile, Quiapo Church was named the Best Parish Facebook Page, while the Archdiocese of Jaro and Basilica Minore del Sto. Niño de Cebu were named Best Diocesan Website and Best Parish website, respectively.

Other winners include TV host Candy Pangilinan (Female Social Media Influencer), Millennial Catholics (Best Organization Facebook Page), Sakristan Spotted-Philippines (Best Public Facebook Group) The Varsitarian (Best Catholic Organization Website), Rix The Seminarian (Best Catholic Vlog), MFC Youth (Best Twitter), Almusalita (Best Instagram), and "Kapit" by Liveloud Worship (Catholic Song of the Year).

The CSMA was established in 2015 by YouthPinoy, a group of young Filipinos who come from different Catholic organizations and Areopagus Communications, Inc., both under the auspices of the media office of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines.

The awards seek to honor Catholic communicators and encourage social media communication ministries to "innovate, participate, and integrate for a greater online purpose, presence, and mission."
