The Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) mourned the death of Presidential Legislative Liaison Office (PLLO) Secretary Adelino "Addy" Sitoy who passed away on Thursday, April 15.
Sitoy, 85, passed away at the Cebu Doctor's Hospital in Cebu City.
PCW recognized Sitoy's contribution in "advancing legislative measures on gender equality and women's empowerment."
"With his invaluable support, PLLO was instrumental in helping PCW push for some of the Women's Priority Legislative Agenda (WPLA) such as the Safe Spaces Act and Expanded Maternity Leave, among others," PCW said in a statement Friday, April 16.
PCW extended its condolences to the family and colleagues of Sitoy.
"The PCW extends its condolences to the Sitoy family and the PLLO family during this very difficult time. May his legacy inspire more legislators to be our partners in advancing gender-responsive laws and policies," it added.
Sitoy was appointed as PLLO Secretary in August 2016. Prior to his appointment, he served as Cordova mayor from 2007 to 2016.
