China donates medical equipment to Davao City

DAVAO CITY – The People’s Republic of China has donated medical equipment to the city government that will benefit some 3,234 health workers in 182 barangays here.

According to the City Information Office, April Marie Dayap, head of the Davao City Investment Promotions Center (DCIPC), led Thursday the distribution of the medical equipment, in batches, to Barangay Health Centers, Barangay Health Workers (BHW), and Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS).

She said each health worker received one Baxtel Aneriod Sphygmomanometer with Stethoscope, one set first aid kit, and an umbrella.

In addition to the medical equipment donated to the health workers, she said that each barangay health center also received two units of Primaplus compressor nebulizer, one unit Baxtel Aneriod Sphygmomanometer with Stethoscope, a weighing scale with height measurement (platform type), and a first aid kit set.

Gift certificates were also distributed by the Office of the City Mayor to the health workers.

The donation of medical equipment came more than two weeks after the Chinese Embassy in the Philippines donated 1,000 tablets to this city in support of the local government’s “Student Siblings Tablet Sharing Project” for the schoolchildren affected by the pandemic.

According to the city government of Davao, the project is intended to support junior and senior high school students from indigent families, or those living with a single parent, or living with indigent guardians. The beneficiaries must have online and offline classes, must live in an area with electricity, and must have two or more siblings also enrolled to share the gadgets with.
