CAMP MARCELO A. ADDURU, Tuguegarao City – Forty assorted unexploded vintage bombs were recovered from a junkshop in Barangay Nungnungan 2, Cauayan City, Isabela last Tuesday.
Police Lt. Col. Andree Abella, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office 2 (Cagayan Valley), said the explosives will be immediately destroyed in a blasting area in Capas, Tarlac.
Police Lt. Oliver Salamero, team leader of the Provincial Explosives and Ordnance Division and Canine Unit (PECU) Isabela-CECU Cauayan City, responded to a call from Harrison Paggao, owner of the junkshop, requesting for assistance.
According to Paggao, he bought the items knowing that those are scraps of metal. But when he learned they are vintage bombs, he immediately called the authorities.
The vintage bombs are now in the custody of PECU Isabela.
