Hotel Marijuana: Man arrested for allegedly growing 'weed' in one of hotel’s rooms


CAUAYAN CITY, Isabela – A man was nabbed late Tuesday, April 13, after allegedly managing an improvised marijuana plantation in one of their hotel’s rooms here.

The suspect was identified as 34-year-old Joey Uy who is said to have been managing the family-owned Xerex Drive located at Villarta Street, District 1, Cauayan City. Uy has been a subject of a surveillance work by joined operatives for almost a month.

The spokeperson of Isabela Provincial Police Office, Police Captain Frances Littaua said the suspect has been using equipment in growing marijuana which were also confiscated namely incubating led light machines, improvised incubating cabinet, white sack containing hydroponic nutrients, six packs of transparent zip lock containing aluminum emergency blankets, seedling trays and pots.

Also discovered during raid were several dried marijuana leaves with stem wrapped in aluminum foil and plastic, several boxes containing dried marijuana leaves, transparent plastic containing suspected marijuana ashes, a pack of ph level decreasing chemical, a stem cutter, marijuana leaves with stalks, pots containing dried marijuana seedlings, carbonized filters, portable digital weighing scale and other paraphernalia. Ammunitions for cal .45 and cal. 9mm were also confiscated.

The suspect was also said to be growing marijuana inside a house located in the same district.

Authorities have yet to determine the kilos and total value of the recovered illegal drugs while the suspect and seized items were brought to Cauayan City Police Station for further investigation and proper disposition.
