Ombudsman Martires confirms 17 personnel COVID-19 infected
Ombudsman Samuel R. Martires clarified on Tuesday, April 13, that only 17 employees of the Office of the Ombudsman (OMB) got infected with coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Martirez had earlier confirmed that of those infected, seven were from his office. He said the 10 other COVID-19 cases are from other offices.
OMB employees have been working from home since March 29 in a bid to stop the transmission of COVID-19.
For five days from April 5 to Aprl 8, all OMB offices in Quezon City were disinfected, sanitized and cleaned on orders of Martires.
To further prevent the spread of the virus, he also ordered the extension of the physical closure of OMB offices until April 18.
Martires instructed all unit heads, directors, deputy special prosecutors, and assistant Ombudsmen to coordinate with their respective staff on their work from home assignments and conduct online meetings.
“All officials and employees are urged to do his/her part to arrest the continuing rise of COVID-19 cases and enjoined to refrain from unnecessarily going out of their homes,” he stressed.
All courts in the National Capital Region, the provinces of Bulacan, Laguna, Cavite, Rizal, Quirino and Abra and in Santiago City in Isabela have been ordered physically closed by the Supreme Court until April 18. These areas are under the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) until April 30.
