LPA off Mindanao intensifies into tropical depression - PAGASA
The low pressure area (LPA) being monitored by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) east of Mindanao has developed into a tropical depression on Monday evening, April 12.

In the PAGASA's weather bulletin issued on Tuesday, April 13, the tropical depression was estimated at 1,640 kilometers east of Mindanao, as of 3 a.m.
It has maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 55 kph. It will likely move west-northwest at 10 kph, PAGASA said.
Weather specialist Meno Mendoza said the weather disturbance would likely enter the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) by Saturday, April 17.
"The domestic name 'Bising' will be assigned to this tropical cyclone once inside the PAR," PAGASA said.
As it may not make landfall, the tropical depression is unlikely to affect any part of the country over the next five days.
However, PAGASA advised the public to continue monitoring this weather disturbance.
Based on the PAGASA's forecast positions and intensities, the tropical cyclone may reach the tropical storm category by Thursday, April 15, and the severe tropical storm category by Saturday.
It said the weather disturbance would likely slow down and become almost stationary by Wednesday, April 14. Afterward, it is forecast to accelerate west-northwestward.
