ILOILO CITY – For this year, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD-6) is expecting 10,393 poverty-stricken families in Western Visayas region to complete the government’s conditional cash transfer program.

“We are happy for these families. They will become self-sufficient,” said Rayner Jude Lobaton, DSWD-6’s focal person for technical assistance and resource augmentation.
Lobaton explained in an online press briefing that these 10,393 families have fully complied with the conditions of the DSWD’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).
The 4Ps is a conditional cash transfer program that gives monthly financial aid to poorer families to make sure their children who are 18-years-old and below will be able to go to school.
Based on DSWD-6’s record, Negros Occidental province including Bacolod City have the highest number of families that will complete 4Ps this year with 3,805 beneficiaries. It is followed by Iloilo province and Iloilo City with 3,203 families.
There are also 1,507 families in Capiz province, 1,006 families in Antique province, 869 families in Aklan province, and three families in Guimaras province that will complete the 4Ps this year.
DSWD-6 will have the local governments monitor the 10,393 families through the program known as “Kilos Unlad” to see if they can sustain getting out of poverty.
Meanwhile, there are still 326, 501 families in Western Visayas region that are 4Ps beneficiaries.
