The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) officially launched on Tuesday, April 13, the country's primary immunization registry in the city of San Juan.
The Vaccine Information Management System Immunization Registry (VIMS-IR) will help streamline the vaccine registration process of the country and further boost the speed of the updating of records of vaccinated residents which will then be sent to the Department of Health (DOH) for real time tallying.
San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora, DICT Sec. Gringo Honasan, and Sec. Vince Dizon attended the launch of VIMS-IR at the FilOil Flying V Center, San Juan's primary vaccination center.
“We are very happy that San Juan is the pilot city of the VIMS-IR with the ultimate goal of improving and speeding up the vaccination process. Our medical workers and volunteers were very open to sharing their points to improve the registry so that when DICT implements it all over the country, it will be user-friendly and easy to use,” Zamora said.
Zamora previously announced that the city was chosen by the DICT as its pilot city after observing its orderly and efficient vaccination rollouts.
The local government said the vaccination process averaged 20 minutes per person starting from registration to vaccination proper, but with VIMS-IR, it was able to cut the processing time to 10 minutes per person from registration to vaccination.
