SC reorganizes memberships in 3 divisions after Gesmundo assumed as Chief Justice
The Supreme Court (SC) has reorganized the memberships in its three divisions with the appointment of Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo as head of the country’s judiciary.

Gesmundo now heads the SC’s first division as chairperson with Associate Justice Alfredo Benjamin S. Caguioa as working chairperson. The other members as Associate Justices Rosmari D. Carandang, Rodil V. Zalameda and Samuel H. Gaerlan.
The second division is still headed by Senior Associate Justice Estela M. Perlas Bernabe with Associate Justices Amy C. Lazaro Javier, Mario V. Lopez, Ricardo R. Rosario and Jhosep Y. Lopez as members.
The third division chairperson is Associate Justice Marvic M.V.F. Leonen with Associate Justices Ramon Paul L. Hernando, Henri Jean Paul B. Inting, Edgardo L. delos Santos, and Jhoseph Y. Lopez (temporary member due one vacancy in the 15-member SC with the appointment of Gesmundo as chief justice) as members.
The three divisions meet Mondays and Wednesdays for their regular sessions. The SC as a full court meets every Tuesday.
Special division and full court sessions may be called at anytime as the need arises.
The Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) has opened the application or recommendation to the post vacated by Gesmundo as associate justice.
Deadline for the application or nomination is on May 10.
