Prayer for pilgrims visiting Jubilee Churches in the Archdiocese of Manila released

The Archdiocese of Manila has released a prayer for pilgrims to recite when they visit the different Jubilee Churches in the archdiocese in celebration of the 500 years of the arrival of Christianity in the Philippines.

The archdiocese posted the prayer in their Facebook page Monday, April 12.

The pilgrim's prayer upon entering the Jubilee Door is as follows:

"Lord Jesus Christ, the door to the Kingdom of God, the sheep gate to the eternal life, the Way, the Truth, and the Life. As we visit the sacred place, draw us more deeply into Your presence and the wonders of Your love for us. We thank You, Lord, for the gift of faith brought to our beloved land five hundred years ago. Help us persevere in fruitful penance, faith that does justice and sincere charity, and lead us to a more fervent living out of the faith. You who live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit, God forever and ever. Amen."

The prayer is also available in Filipino.

Below are the pilgrim churches in the Archdiocese of Manila. Pope Francis is granting a plenary indulgence to Filipinos visiting any of 500 Jubilee Churches to mark 500 years of Christianity in the Philippines this 2021.

  • Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene (Quiapo Church (Manila)
  • Archdiocesan Shrine of Nuestra Señora de Guia (Manila)
  • Archdiocesan Shrine of Sto. Niño de Tondo (Manila)
  • San Pablo Apostol Parish (Manila)
  • Santa Clara de Montefalco Parish (Pasay)
  • National Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe (Makati)
  • Sts. Peter and Paul Parish (Makati)
  • San Felipe Neri Parish (Mandaluyong)
  • St. John the Baptist Parish (San Juan).
  • Immaculate Conception Parish (San Agustin Church), Intramuros, Manila
  • Minor Basilica of San Lorenzo Ruiz (Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Parish, Binondo, Manila

The archdiocese said these pilgrim churches are to be the "centers of prayer, forgiveness, and charitable works during this jubilee year."

Apostolic Administrator of the Archdiocese of Manila Bishop Broderick Pabillo started the opening of the jubilee doors of the said churches on April 4.

The Jubilee Year will close on April 18, 2022, with the Second National Mission Congress in Cebu.
