Brig. Gen. Leo Francisco, MPD director, announced this even as he mourned the death of S/Sgt. Senen De Los Santos Evangelista.

“Nakakalungkot pero sa ngayon ay nagiimbestiga pa ang Health Service ng MPD kung ano ang reason ng kanyang pagkamatay (It is saddening, but the MPD Health Service is still investigating the cause of his death),” Francisco told Manila Bulletin on Friday (April 9).

Evangelista, 45, was rushed to Skyline Medical Center on Wednesday night (April 7) at around 8:29 p.m. complaining of fever, cough, and colds.

According to the medical staff, Evangelista had his first dose of the Sinovac vaccine on March 31, 2021, with no fever, cough, colds, diarrhea, and shortness of breath.

Evangelista was declared dead by an attending physician at 1:00 p.m. Thursday (April 8).

Francisco said that they will finish today’s (April 9) vaccination of the MPD while the investigation is ongoing.

“We will just finish this day kasi ngayon lang ang schedule namin at hindi rin namin alam kung kailan uli kami mabibigyan ng pagkakataon (we only have this schedule and we still don’t know when we will be given a new schedule) while also waiting for the investigation,” he said.
