The Manila City government will continue to follow the Food and Drugs Administration’s (FDA) guidelines against the use of AstraZeneca vaccines for people below 60 years old.

“We will continue to follow FDA guidelines that AstraZeneca is for 60 above,” Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso said on Friday (April 9).
The FDA had asked the Department of Health (DOH) to stop the use of AstraZeneca vaccines on people below 60 years old following reports of people experiencing blood clotting with low platelet count after getting inoculated with the AstraZeneca vaccine.
Domagoso also said that no AstraZeneca vaccine will go to waste since there’s still a lot of city residents who are above 60 years old.
“Bakit naman masasayang? Ang daming 60+ na mamamayan na pwede pa magamit (Why would it go to waste? There’s still a lot of people above 60 years old. They can use it),” he said.
As of Thursday, 63,346 individuals under A1, A2, and A3 Priority Groups have already been inoculated in the city.
