Go tells public: 'Respect' ECQ protocols to overcome COVID-19

Senator Christopher “Bong” Go  stressed anew the importance of everyone’s cooperation and compliance with the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) restrictions set by the government to "successfully overcome the risks and uncertainties caused by the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic."

In an interview on Wednesday, April 7, Go said that the rising number of COVID-19 cases and the reimposition of ECQ in the National Capital Region (NCR) Plus area had also limited President Duterte’s movement and engagements.

“Pina-postpone rin po ni Pangulong Duterte 'yong mga plano niyang pag-iikot sa buong bansa dahil kasalukuyang nasa ECQ pa po tayo. We have to respect the ECQ...Siya mismo ay hindi muna lumabas dahil ine-engganyo nga natin 'yung mga taumbayan na manatili muna sa pamamahay kung hindi naman po importante ang lakad (President Duterte also postponed his plans to go around the country because we are in an ECQ. We have to respect the ECQ. Even the President is not going out because he wants to encourage our countrymen to stay indoors if there are no important reasons to leave their houses),” said Go, Duterte's former aide.

He, however, assured that there is nothing to worry about when it comes to the President’s health, saying Duterte "is in good health".

On Wednesday night, Go posted on social media photos showing Duterte "drowning in work" after his weekly address scheduled for Wednesday was postponed.

“Regular naman pong nagpapa-swab test si Pangulong Duterte at, so far naman po, sa awa ng Diyos, ay negatibo naman po kung pagbabasehan po 'yung last niya pong swab test. So, wala po kayong dapat ikabahala pero we cannot take chances (President has his regular swab test and by the Grace of the Lord, he is COVID-19 negative. There is nothing to fear but we cannot take chances),” Go said.

“Ika nga, hindi natin pwedeng isugal, bagama't alam n’yo po na si Pangulo talagang gustong lumabas (We can’t gamble with the President’s life although we know he really likes to go out),” he added.

Go again called on the people to cooperate with the government's efforts to help address the pandemic.
