Over 1,800 Coast Guard personnel deployed to monitor passengers, vessels on Tuesday
As more people continue to travel especially outside the areas under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ), the Philippine Coast Guard has deployed more than 1,800 personnel to assist in strictly monitoring the compliance of boat and ship passengers on the minimum health safety protocol in various ports across the country.
In a statement, the PCG said a total of 1,863 Coast Guard personnel were deployed and instructed to monitor as many vessels and motorbancas.
“Aside from upholding maritime security and maritime safety, the PCG also assists in the strict implementation of health protocols amid the COVID-19 pandemic,” the Coast Guard said.
The PCG has recorded more than 50,000 passengers from various ports of the country during the Easter Sunday alone.
Passengers are encouraged to coordinate with the Coast Guard Public Affairs through its hotline: 0927-560-7729, for concerns and clarifications about sea travel protocols and regulations during Holy week.
