Over P3 million worth of party drug "Ecstasy" and Kush marijuana were seized by Bureau of Customs (BOC) agents from air parcels found at different warehouses in Pasay City.
A total of 1,681 tablets of Ecstasy with an estimated street value of P2,857,700 were found concealed inside a microwave oven, while 133 grams of Kush marijuana estimated to be worth P159,600 was found inside a metal toy box, the Manila Bulletin learned.
The seized illegal substances, which have an aggregate value of P3,017,300, were turned over by the BOC Tuesday, April 6 to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
Records show that the Ecstasy tablets were shipped from Netherlands and consigned to a recipient from Quezon City, while the Kush marijuana was shipped from the United States and consigned to a certain individual from Pasay City. Both parcels were recently intercepted.
The twin operations were carried out by personnel from the BOC-Port of NAIA (Ninoy Aquino International Airport) through the Port's Anti-illegal Drugs Task Force (CAIDTF), together with agents from PDEA and the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG).
The confiscation of Ecstasy and Kush marijuana came a month after BOC discovered P13.62 million worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride or "shabu" that was stashed inside hotpot grill appliance.
BOC-NAIA under Port District Collector Carmelita M. Talusan said the agency will continue to be vigilant against the different modes of concealment of illegal drugs using enhanced and improved profiling techniques, as well as through the continued help of PDEA and NAIA-IADITG.
