The Silungang Molave (SiM), an isolation facility inside the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman campus in Quezon City, is asking for donations to help decongest and alleviate the shortage of beds in hospitals.

In a statement on Monday, April 5, the UP Diliman said it is extremely worried about the continuing increase in the number of active coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in the country, particularly in Metro Manila, and the current shortage of vacant hospital beds for COVID-19 patients.
UP Diliman is calling on all UP alumni and other persons who wish to help to provide mattresses (single, 22), electric fan (22), pillows, bedsheets, alcohol, disinfectant, hand soap, detergent, paper towels, cleaning supplies, or cash for the SiM isolation facility.
SiM is being prepared to receive COVID-19 positive cases with mild symptoms or asymptomatic, and contacts or suspects with symptoms similar to COVID-19 symptoms but not yet confirmed by Real-Time Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction or RT-PCR testing who are unable to isolate in their homes.
Those interested in donating can contact Dr. Jesusa Catabui at mobile number 09215554477/09272540360 or email jtcatabui@up.edu.ph or Ms. Perlynn Guevarra at mobile number 09178357875 or SiM Landline 89818500 local 4611.
Donations may also be sent through Pay Maya and GCash number 09173009064.
"Ang mga residente o mga nasasakupan ng UP Diliman Campus ay mga prayoridad na kliyente. Ngunit, binuksan din namin ang aming mga pintuan maging sa mga hindi taga-UP na kamag-anak ng aming mga kawani na tinatanggihan sa kalapit na isolation facilities na pawang mga puno at siksikan na. (UP Diliman Campus residents or constituents are priority clients. But, we also opened our doors even to the non-UP relatives of our staff who were denied to the nearby isolation facilities which were all full and crowded)," UP Diliman said.
It said that there are additional 22 rooms at the SiM to address the increasing cases, especially in the positive ward for men that is usually occupied.
