PCG records 29K outbound passengers, 24K inbound passengers on Easter Sunday
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has recorded more than 50,000 passengers from various ports of the country during the Easter Sunday alone.
Of the figure, the PCG said a total of 29,061of them were outbound passengers while 24,021 were inbound passengers.
In a statement, the PCG said that compared to the consolidated report on Black Saturday, April 3, the number of outbound passengers decreased by 2,723, while the number of inbound passengers increased by 3,890.
The deployed frontline personnel in 15 Coast Guard districts have also inspected a total of 616 vessels and 507 motorbancas.
“An increase of 103 (20%) inspected vessels and a decrease of 92 (15%) inspected motorbancas were also noted, compared to the previous consolidated report in relation to the 'Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Semana Santa & Summer Vacation 2021' spearheaded by the Department of Transportation (DOTr),” the PCG said.
The PCG on Friday, March 26, placed all its units on a heightened alert to manage the influx of port passengers during the Lenten season. It will also cover the length of summer vacation in anticipation of local tourists who will travel by sea for recreational purposes until May 31, 2021.
