The construction of a one-kilometer long bridge worth P1.2-billion that will connect the eastern and western sides of the town of Amulung town in Cagayan province has already started.

The project, which is funded by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), is expected to boost the livelihood of farmers in the area and those who needed to cross the Cagayan River to transport their products.
Abolo Punong Barangay Grace Abel-Reyes said farmers and residents of their town are currently taking boat rides in crossing the river which becomes dangerous during the rainy season.
"We really need a bridge because our means of transportation at present is very much dangerous. There was a scenario back then when a boat capsized while crossing the river. Two student passengers were drowned and their remains were never found," said Reyes.
Also boosting the future of Amulung town’s economy is a bridge-widening project that will improve the travelling along the Cagayan Valley Road.
The 74-meter Baculud Bridge II along Cagayan Valley Road is undergoing widening from two to four lanes.
The widening of Baculud II has an allocation of P69-million, funded under the FY 2019 General Appropriation Act (GAA).
