Korean star Kim Seon-ho will be pairing up with actress Shin Min-a for a new drama that will air in the second half of the year.

tvN announced that the two will star in “Seaside Village Chachacha,” a romantic comedy between dentist Yoon Hye-Jin (Shin Min-a) and Hong Doo-Sik (Kim Seon-ho) set in the seaside village of Gongjin.

“Seaside Village Chachacha” is a remake of the 2004 movie “Mr. Hong” that starred Uhm Jung-Hwa and Kim Ju-Hyeok. Back in January, it was reported that Kim Seon-ho was offered the role for the remake.

In the drama, Yoon Hye-jin decides to relocate to Gongjin after her life goes awry. There she meets Hong Doo-sik, who is known in the village as “Chief Hong” or “Mr. Handy” for helping when something happens in Gongjin.

“Seaside Village Chachacha” is Kim Seon-ho’s new tvN drama after starring in “Start-Up,” which ran from October to December last year.

“Start-Up” brought him fame by playing the role of Han Ji-pyeong. His Instagram followers increased from over one million last November to five million last month.

Kim Seon-ho’s new drama was announced after he wrapped up the play “Ice,” which ran from Jan. 8 to March 21 at the Sejong Center S Theater in Seoul.

Last March 21, he held his exclusive e-fan meeting for Filipino fans on the Kmmunity PH page on Facebook where it was also formally announced that he is now the new Globe ambassador.

When asked “What do you want fans to think of when they think of you?,” Kim Seon-ho said, “I want everyone to think of Kim Seon-ho as an actor who will give back all the support that I got from the fans. Because I am an actor, all the love should be given back to the fans.”

He thanked fans for the support, saying, “I did not start my acting career just to get the support. In all the good and bad times, you guys were there, supporting and giving me love. I feel that I really have to give the love back. I would like to give all the love that I received back to you guys” and added that he hoped he could visit the Philippines when the pandemic is over.
