‘Pulong’ aids Davao City fire victims


DAVAO CITY (PNA) – Davao City Rep. Paolo "Pulong" Duterte yesterday distributed cash aid and rice packs to 84 individuals affected by a fire on Maundy Thursday in Barangay 5-A Pag-asa, Bankerohan, this city.

The fire gutted 13 houses and partially damaged 15 others, leaving the victims homeless. They were temporarily sheltered in a gymnasium in the area.

Each of the recipients who are either house owners, sharers, boarders, or renters received cash assistance and a 10-kilo pack of rice from the lawmaker’s office.

Davao Fire District Intelligence and Investigation Office head SFO4 Ramil Gillado said the blaze started on the first floor of the two-story house of a certain Ramon John Solite. Damage to property was estimated at P500,000.

Barangay 5-A Chairman Edgar Ibuyan Jr. thanked President Duterte’s son for the help given to the affected families.

Rep. Duterte’s office has been giving food packs not only to its constituents but also to those from other areas in Davao who are in need of immediate assistance amid the COVID-19 crisis.
