DepEd to disburse P6K clothing allowance to teachers, non-teaching personnel this month
The teaching and non-teaching employees need not worry as the Department of Education (DepEd) assured that they will receive their P6,000 clothing allowance for School Year 2021-2022 this month.

Education Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones expressed DepEd’s commitment to prioritize the needs of the teaching and non-teaching employees amid the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
“We are truly committed to providing every necessary need of the teachers amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The Department always recognizes our teachers’ efforts and sacrifices to make sure that learners will be able to continue their education,” Education Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones said in a statement issued on Sunday.
The DepEd announced that the clothing allowance will be received "not earlier than the first working day of April of the current year.”
Based on the Financial Report made by Undersecretary for Finance Annalyn Sevilla and the recently released DepEd Memo No. 16 entitled “Guidelines on the New DepEd National Uniform for Teaching and Non-Teaching Personnel”, the clothing allowance amounting to P6,000.00 per eligible employee will be distributed in April 2021.
DepEd Memo No. 16 provides the official design and details of the new set of uniforms for teaching and non-teaching personnel for SY 2021-2022.
Sevilla said considering that SY 2021 to 2022 is a “transition period”, DepEd will also be lenient to personnel who still opt to use the old uniform design.
“In consideration with the current crisis and the continuing implementation of the blended learning delivery and alternative working arrangements, SY 2021-2022 shall be considered a ‘transition period’,” she said.
“ to provide ample time for employees to prepare for the new set of prescribed uniforms and will be lenient to personnel who will still opt to use the old uniform design,” she added.
Sevilla serves as vice chair of the DepEd Uniform Committee (DUC), headed by Undersecretary for Field Operations Atty. Revsee Escobedo.
Also sitting at the DUC are 11 DepEd teaching and non-teaching organization representatives.
"The new designs of uniforms for teaching and non-teaching positions consider factors such as the general availability of the textile materials in the market; comfort and durability of materials; and over-all look of the design which must be presentable, modest and with integrity,” DepEd said.
