April 1 is April Fool's Day, a day when we can play practical jokes on each other. But not everything should be made into a joke, and having the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is one of them.

The Department of Education (DepEd), in its Facebook page, issued a list of things that we should not joke about.
1. Jokes about having COVID-19
Aside from causing great concern to your entire family, it is also a crime to spread false information about the virus.
2. Jokes about mental health
Today, mental health can be considered a serious topic. Avoid joking about it so as not to cause apprehension and concern on your loved ones.
3. Jokes about learning
Jokes about absenteeism or dropping out of school are not good because they can entice others to do the same.
4. Jokes about sexuality
April Fools or not, it’s important that we respect people’s sexuality. It should not be made the subject of jokes or ridicule because we all deserve respect.
5. Fake pregnancy announcements
Though some have gone viral on social media, fake pregnancy announcements should not be imitated or made, especially if those who are involved are underaged.
6. Food Pranks
There is no need to keep up with food trends or food pranks, especially now when we are in the middle of a pandemic. Never consume food just to go viral online.
