Instead of watching Netflix, a Catholic prelate urged the faithful to watch the "senakulo" (passion play) this Holy Week.
Balanga Bishop Ruperto Santos said watching the "senakulo" will help the faithful better reflect and be catechized this Holy Week.
"As our faithful stays at home, it is a help for them to be catechized by watching our Diocesan YouTube Lenten recollections and passion scenes, instead of watching Netflix or navigating online channels," he said in an interview Thursday, April 1.
Santos said the senakulo also makes the young active in parish.
"Senakulo makes our young people be active in parish, creative in reaching to others and maximise their talents for the service of the diocese and for God's glory," he said.
The Our Lady of the Pillar Parish Morong, Bataan has invited the public to watch Fiat voluntas Tua' (Senakulo 2021) on Good Friday, April 2 at 9 a.m.
The Fiat voluntas Tua' (Senakulo 2021) may be viewed via the Facebook page of the parish or YouTube http://bit.ly/OLPPMorongYT.
Other churches also have a senakulo this Holy Week such as Quiapo Church and the St. John Bosco Parish in Tondo. The presentation is also made available online.
In the Philippines, the observance of Good Friday include the Way of the Cross, chanting of the Pasyon, procession of “Santo Entierro” or the image of the dead Christ and other saints connected to the Passion and staging of “senakulo” or passion play.
