Antipolo City begins vaccination of senior citizens

The city government of Antipolo City has started vaccinating senior citizens in the city as it continues to urge the elderly to register for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccination program online.

The local government unit (LGU), in a post on Facebook announced that it has started inoculating the senior citizens who have registered through Antipolo Bantay COVID-19.

Based on the Department of Health (DOH) vaccine priority list, the senior citizens belong to the A2 category, making them the next in line after the medical health workers.

The city government said the senior citizens who have registered either manual or online will just have to wait for a text message or a call from the city government’s vaccination operations center as to where and when their turn would be.

The seniors who have not yet registered may do so online accessing the link: bit.ly/antipolobantaycovid19

For manual registration, the seniors can ask the assistance of their adult relative to sign-up for them at the designated barangay vaccine registration helpdesk in their respective barangay halls.

The office of Mayor Andrea Bautista-Ynares announced in a March 26 post on Facebook that there are 18 vaccination centers which seniors can choose from.

When going to the vaccination center, the senior citizens should bring with them their senior citizen identification card or two government-issued IDs that will prove their age and address; and a medical clearance from their doctor or from a public or private hospital or Rural Health Units if they have comorbidities or sickness such as hypertension (highblood), diabetes, asthma, allergy and others.

The city government has not yet released any information as to how many senior citizens have availed of the free COVID-19 vaccine or how many of the elderly have signed up for the vaccination program.
