After months of rumors and speculation, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has officially confirmed that the GR Yaris is coming to the Philippines.

Easily Toyota’s most anticipated vehicle this year, the GR Yaris boasts of more power and performance than the standard Yaris hatchback.

The GR Yaris is the first road-going Toyota vehicle based on a motorsports vehicle. It is based on the Yaris WRC car used by the Toyota Gazoo Racing World Rally Team. Being based on a rally car, the Yaris features a wealth of technology and innovation first fitted on the competitive rally car.

Among these are aerodynamic improvements, light vehicle weight, and high rigidity for improved performance. It’s powered by a newly-developed 1.6-liter inline three-cylinder intercooler turbo engine combined with "GR-FOUR," a newly-developed sports 4WD system.

The Yaris produces 272 PS and 360 Nm of torque. It’s matched with a six-speed manual paired with racing-grade Torsen limited-slip differentials for the front and rear axles.

The GR Yaris comes in a three-door hatchback form. It comes with an aerodynamic bodykit, 18-inch forged alloy wheels, bigger disc brakes, leather-wrapped and stitched wheel, sporty bucket seats.

The GR Yaris will be offered at P2.65M. Toyota will offer more details on the model’s launch and reservation info soon.

The GR Yaris is the follow up to Toyota’s recent launch of the Vios GR-S, another vehicle bearing the Gazoo Racing performance badge from the brand’s racing division.

Toyota hopes to further promote the Gazoo Racing brand with events like the Gazoo Racing Vios Cup and GR GT Cup.
