It seems like New Yorkers will see more of the famous Chickenjoy in their future dining as beloved fast food giant Jollibee eyes to open a branch in Times Square.
According to a story by New York Business Journal, the food chain inked a lease for 7,000 square feet at 1500 Broadway. The space includes a 3,000 square feet of ground floor retail space and 4,000 square feet on the lower level.
Set in between West 43rd and West 44th streets, the soon-to-open store is the latest addition to the brand's New York-based branches, one at 6229 Roosevelt Ave. in Woodside and the other at 609 Eighth Ave. in Midtown.
Helping to seal the deal are CBRE's Amira Yunis, Anthony Stanford, Henry Rossignol, and Elliot Ferris, as they represent the tenant and landlord of the Tamares Real Estate.
"The building's premier retail space and LED signage in one of the city's top destinations for consumer spending create an attractive location for Jollibee as the company continues its North American expansion and work to increase their New York City presence," Stanford said in a statement.
While the pandemic has produced major damages in the local food industry, the fast food brand's eyes are set on global expansion and other opportunities it may find amid the pandemic.
“There are opportunities coming out of the pandemic,” Jollibee Foods Corporation CEO Ernesto Tanmantiong said in a Bloomberg interview. “We are constantly assessing these opportunities.”
