The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) warned applicants for the PCG against unauthorized Facebook pages used in illegally disseminating recruitment updates and status of applications.
The PCG made the statement after groups and individuals were reportedly using social media platforms, particularly Facebook, to illegally disseminate recruitment updates and status of applications.
“Please be informed that the Coast Guard Human Resource Management Command (CGHRMC) has the sole authority to conduct any activity related to the recruitment of Coast Guard personnel,” the Coast Guard said.
The PCG said the CGHRMC provides the latest updates and other necessary information to aspiring Coast Guard trainees through its official Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pcgrecruitmentbranch/
Meanwhile, the official Facebook page of the PCG, managed by the Coast Guard Public Affairs (CGPA), supports the CGHRMC in disseminating information regarding the recruitment process, as well as in addressing concerns of Coast Guard applicants through: https://www.facebook.com/coastguardph.
The PCG underscored that the recruitment remains suspended as a precautionary measure amid the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
“The schedule for its resumption has yet to be finalized,” the Coast Guard said.
“The PCG requests the public to be cautious and vigilant, and to report any suspicious social media page or account that disseminates recruitment updates and/or provide status of applications, apart from the above-mentioned authorized Facebook pages,” it added.
The public may contact the CGPA for reports and complaints through the official PCG Facebook page or through its hotline: 0927-560-7729.
