FAMY, Laguna - Mayor Edwin V. Pangilinan succumbed to coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Sunday (March 29). He was 53.

Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Arlon Chavez told Manila Bulletin that the remains of the Pangilinan were cremated on the same day that he died. His ashes are now in his home in Barangay Asana.
Pangilinan tested positive for COVID-19 on March 15. His mother also previously died due to COVID-19.
The mayor's close contacts have been placed under quarantine and some of them have already been cleared by the Rural Health Unit.
The municipal government is planning to hold a public viewing at the Liwasang Constancio Valsadera but only a maximum of ten visitors will be allowed at a time.
