Daughters tell Robredo: Do not run anymore in 2022

Vice President Leni Robredo said her three daughters are all against the idea of her running for any national post in the 2022 elections.

In an interview with Radyo Katipunan's "All Kaps! Ateneo Level Up!" program on Friday, Robredo said her daughters told her the vice presidency should be the last national post she will hold.

"Ayaw na talaga nila... Sabi nila last na itong mag-national (They don't want me to run anymore. They said the vice presidency should be my last national post)," she said.

"Lahat sila ayaw na talaga. Parang lahat sila nagsasabing pahinga na tayo (All of them are against it. They want us to rest already)," she added.

According to the Vice President, her family has always been against her running for any national post.

"Kahit yung desisyon ko nung 2016, grabe yung internal struggle namin sa pamilya (Even my decision to run in 2016, that cause a great internal struggle in our family)," Robredo said.

"Yung dalawang panganay, kasi pareho na nagtatrabaho, sinasabi nila sa akin, 'Kami na lang bubuhay sa 'yo' (My two older daughters, because both of them are working already, they told me that they will just support my needs)," she added.

Despite this, Vice President Robredo said she was not closing her doors on running for president in 2022 but said her considerations are beyond surveys and the criticisms against her.

"I am still open to running pero kasi sa akin marami lang tanong. Ako ba yung makaka-unite (But I just have some questions. Will be the one who can unite all Filipinos)?" she said.

Last week, 1Sambayan, a pro-democracy coalition eyeing a unified opposition ticket for the 2022 polls, said Vice President Robredo is one of the people they were eyeing to lead the opposition.
