Biñan City LGU begins vaccine rollout at Teodora Alonso's ancestral home

BIÑAN CITY, Laguna - The city government began on Thursday (March 25) its coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccination program for health workers and other medical frontliners at the Historic Alberto Mansion.

The local heritage site is the 200-year-old ancestral house of Teodora Alonso, mother of Dr. Jose Rizal.

On Friday (March 25), the local government unit (LGU) is set to give the first dose of AstraZeneca vaccine to health workers aged 60 years old and above; practitioners and personnel of private clinics, pharmacies, and laboratories; embalmers; veterinary medicine practitioners; and drug store staff.

The LGU had earlier told the Manila Bulletin that they chose the Historic Alberto Mansion as a vaccination site because of its accessibility and representation of hope to Biñanenses.

Vaccination rollout has also begun in the city government's partner hospitals, starting with the University of Perpetual Help System Laguna (Perpetual Help Medical Center – Biñan) on March 17.

As of March 25, the city has recorded 202 active cases and 2,205 recoveries. Laguna Provincial Health Office's monitoring report shows Biñan as the fourth LGU with the highest number of cases in the province, next to Calamba, Santa Rosa, and San Pedro.
