The Pasay City government referred 264 individuals afflicted with coronavirus disease (COVID-19) to Oplan Kalinga since its four quarantine facilities as well as the city’s lone public hospital, the Pasay City General Hospital, have already reached full capacity.

Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano said the Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Office (DRRMO) reported that 264 COVID-19 patients were referred for isolation in nine Oplan Kalinga quarantine facilities.

Rubiano said Dr. Carmelo Maranan, head of the DRRMO, reported that 20 patients were brought to Nayong Pilipino in Paranaque, Go Hotel in Mandaluyong, and to Manila Prince Hotel; 15 to Nice Hotel in Mandaluyong; 25 to Nice Hotel in North EDSA; 22 to Filinvest Alabang Isolation; 39 to Canyon Woods Hotel, 65 to Chateau Royale Hotel, and 22 to a Calamba quarantine facility.

She said 87 patients from the city’s four quarantine facilities are scheduled for discharge on March 24.

Rubiano said the city’s four quarantine facilities still lack bed capacity because of the rising number of residents getting infected with COVID-19.

She said the City Health Office (CHO) recorded on March 23 a total of 946 active cases and 184 new cases.

She said the quarantine facility at the Cultural Center Complex which has 60 beds has onlyone vacancy; the Mall of Asia facility with 132 beds now has seven vacancies; the Burgos Elementary School facility with 44 beds and one vacancy; and the Folk Arts Theater with 97 beds with one vacancy.

The mayor said that even if the recovery rate in the city is high, it will be difficult to control the surge if city residents will continue to ignore the minimum health protocols.
