It took no more than half an hour for a suspected thief in Pasay City to break into a store in the middle of the night and cart away a day's worth of earnings using only a hairpin to pick a lock.

The man who was later arrested was identified as Danny Aguinaldo, 36 a pedicab driver, from Malibay, Pasay City. In a television interview on ABS-CBN, Aguinaldo admitted that he used a hairpin to pick the lock and did it due to financial reasons.
Police said that he might have been eyeing the house for some time before committing the crime.
According to the report provided by Pasay City Police Chief Cesar Paday-os, the store owner, Marites Asumen, discovered at 9:30 a.m. that the padlock of the roll-up door of her store had been unlocked.
As she inspected her store, she found out that the daily earnings of the store amounting to P14,000.00 was missing. The victim immediately sought assistance from the Pasay City Police Station Sub-Station 6 in Malibay.
Elements of Sub-Station 6 led by Police Exec. Master Sgt. Rommel Guimalac coordinated with Barangay 171 and viewed the installed Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) camera that led to the identification of the suspect.
Members of Barangay 171 and arresting officers launched a follow-up operation that resulted in the arrest of the suspect and recovery of cash money amounting only to P4,600.
The case was turned over to the Station Investigation and Detective Management Branch (SIDMB) for proper disposition.
