ALFONSO, Cavite - Mayor Randy A. Salamat has tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The mayor is asymptomatic and is currently under home quarantine, Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management assistant Sosimo Salamat told the Manila Bulletin on Wednesday (March 24).
In his Facebook post, Mayor Salamat said his job entails dealing with thousands of people, so getting infected is always a risk. He also said he'll be working from home during his quarantine period.
Salamat's close contacts have been notified and are also currently under quarantine.
As of March 22, the municipality located in Cavite's high-value and productive agricultural zone has 27 active COVID-19 cases, bringing its total number of recorded cases to 168.
