Zambo station chief, 4 other policemen fall in entrapment operation


 A station chief in Zamboanga City and four of his men were arrested after an entrapment operation conducted by the Philippine National Police (PNP) Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (IMEG) Sunday night, March 22 in Barangay Ayala, Zamboanga City.

The police chief was identified as Police Major Orlyn Leyte, Officer in Charge of the Station 9, Ayala, Zamboanga City Police Station who is facing robbery and extortion charges.
 
Leyte and his men reportedly operate by way of calling up businessmen within their area, telling them of their supposed involvement in drug cases.
 
The group would then ask for money from their victims and assure them their names would be taken out of their drug watchlist.
 
An entrapment operation turned out to be successful after IMEG operatives was able to arrest Leyte while in the act of receiving P2,000 placed on top of 88 marked money.
 
Also nabbed where Leyte’s men identified as PSSg. Hegenio Salvador, PSSg. Asser Abdulkadim, PCpl Ismael Sasapan and PCpl Juman Arabani who are all members of the station’s Drug Enforcement Unit.
 
They are under the restricted custody of the City Director, Zamboanga City Police and are now temporarily detained at Zamboanga City PS for proper disposition.
 
“Once again, this Regional Office would like to make it clear that we do not tolerate any wrongdoings of our personnel either officer or members of the ranks,” said PBGen. Ronnie E. Ylagan, Regional Director of Police Regional Office 9.
