The Philippine General Hospital is calling for blood plasma donations from COVID-19 survivors.
In a Facebook post on Monday (March 22), the PGH said the blood donations will be used for convalescent plasma therapy of COVID patients who are in critical condition.
Those who wish to donate should fill up the donation form at https://tinyurl.com/PGHBDCCP.
Based on PGH’s guidelines, individuals who are eligible to donate blood are recovered COVID-19 patients with a positive PCR swab or antibody test, with or without symptoms of COVID-19; asymptomatic for at least 14 days; 16-60 years old; and with a bodyweight of at least 50 kilograms (kg).
Consent will be required for donors below 18 years old, the PGH said.
The PGH said recorded individuals who have received a vaccine can also donate “as long as the vaccine was given after diagnosis of COVID-19 and within six months after complete resolution of symptoms.”
“A deferral period of up to 14 to 28 days may be recommended depending on the specific type of vaccine,” the PGH added.
The PGH said all donors must also pass the standard DOH Donor Screening procedure and additional laboratory tests.
