TACLOBAN CITY – The Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (DENR-CENRO)-Sta. Rita, Samar seized P2-million worth of assorted undocumented lumber and conveyance in Barangay Guirang, Basey, Samar Sunday.

Forester Glenn Garciano said they received an intelligence report regarding the transport of a large quantity of undocumented lumber in the area.
CENRO-Sta. Rita mounted an operation and seized 648 pieces or 9,213 board feet of assorted Lauan species with a total estimated value of P2,052,780 and a 10-wheel truck.
Garciano disclosed that the lumber was not sawn in Basey but may have come from Maydolong and Llorente in Eastern Samar.
He said they have filed a case for violation of Section 68 and 68-A of Presidential Decree 705 or the Revised Forestry Code as amended by Executive Order 277 and amended further by Section 77 of Republic Act 7161 against Genevieve Laugo and Archiepie Laugo, the declared owners and possessors of the seized items.
Garciano has also issued a seizure order on the lumber and conveyance pending formal administrative seizure proceedings and disposition.
