Only essential travel permitted in and out of Parañaque


Only essential travel into and out of Parañaque City will be allowed as part of the Executive Order (EO) signed by Mayor Edwin Olivarez on Sunday.

Olivarez signed the EO 2021-022 "adopting the Inter-Agency Task Force for the management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) Resolution No. 104, Series of 2021, and Memorandum from the Executive Secretary Dated 21 March 2021."

With this, the city adopted "additional security measures" mentioned in IATF Resolution 104.

Under Section 2 of the EO, it is stated that "to prevent the transmission of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), only essential travel into and out" of the city shall be allowed.

It is also mentioned in Section 2 that public transportation shall remain to be operational "at such capacities and protocols in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Department of Transportation."

It added that the use of "active transportation" is likewise "promoted."

These measures, including other sections of the EO, were lifted from the IATF resolution except for Section 9, City Administrator Ding Soriano said.

Section 9 indicates that "all employees and personnel of the city government, including barangay officials, staff, and personnel, in order to highlight moral and ethical ascendancy, are hereby required mandatory to wear face mask and face shield while outside of their respective residences and/or performing their official functions, otherwise, appropriate charges, and penal sanctions shall be filed against such erring employees, staff, or personnel."

New guidelines as well as travel restrictions under the unified General Community Quarantine (GCQ) bubble in the National Capital Region + (NCR+) on Sunday was released which includes NCR, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal as a move to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the next two weeks.
