DOH reports 8,019 new COVID-19 cases


The Department of Health on Monday, March 22, reported 8,019 new coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases, another record high.

The previous record high was set Saturday, March 20, with 7,999 cases.

The  8,000 new cases brings the total number of cases to 671,792.

Of the said figure, the Health department said, 80,970 are active cases.

Of the active cases, 95.4 percent mild cases, 2.2 percent asymptomatic cases, 0.9 percent critical cases, 1.0 percent severe cases, and 0.52 percent moderate cases.

The DOH case bulletin also showed 103 new recoveries bringing the total number of recoveries to 577,850.

As to the number of deaths, 4 new deaths were recorded which means that there are now a total of 12,972 fatalities due to COVID-19.

The DOH said "21 duplicates were removed from the total case count." Of these, "seven are recoveries."

Two labs were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS) on March 21, 2021, said the DOH.
