Education Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones recognized the important role of teachers especially at a time of pandemic - when alternative delivery learning modalities are being implemented to ensure that education of millions of learners will continue.
Briones, who virtually attended the turnover ceremony of e-gadgets to schools in Negros Oriental on March 19, underscored the role of teachers - as well as parents - in the education of children especially when using technology.
“You are loved and appreciated. Because of your unwavering commitment and dedication to raising and nurturing our learners, we are heading closer and closer to our goal of delivering quality, accessible, relevant, and liberating basic education,” Briones, who is also Negrense, said.
Undersecretary for Administration Alain Pascua and Undersecretary for Field Operations Atty. Revsee Escobedo spearheaded the week-long visit to Negros Oriental as part of DepEd’s EduAKSYON campaign.
During the simple turn over ceremony in Valencia, Negros Oriental, a total of 1,632 smartphones, 250 tablets, at 28 laptops were given to 14 schools under the municipality.
The turn over of “empowerment tools” to learners and teachers was led by Pascua. Health protocols were observed during the event.
“Ang mga kagamitang ito ay bahagi lamang ng paraan natin upang maisakatuparan ang Blended Learning, kung saan ang teknolohiya ay may mahalagang gampanin upang maipagpatuloy ang edukasyon kahit wala pang physical classes (These tools are part of the implementation of Blended Learning, where technology has an important role to play in sustaining education even without physical classes),” Pascua said.
Pascua was joined by other officials of DepEd both from the Central Office and local level. The gadgets that were turned over were donated by the People’s Republic of China, Department of Finance, and the Bureau of Customs.
Meanwhile, the “EduAksyon sa Negros Oriental” will be conducted until Monday, March 22, to check the Last Mile Schools, Gabaldon Schoolhouses, and to deliver more empowerment tools in various public schools.
