Students join earthquake drill online

Students from the CIT University joined National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council's (NDRRMC) nationwide simultaneous earthquake drill last March 11.

Screenshots from the university event, which was uploaded by its official student publication The Technologian, went viral and earned mixed reactions online.

"Grabe pinas oy wa na gyud maka lupig oy! Online is life dugaya human sa akong katawa oy (Wow no one can really beat the Philippines. Online is life. I can't stop laughing," wrote on netizen.

"Sa mga nag bugalbugal dira, bantay bitaw ug mag panic mo ug mag linog ha kay wa mo kabalo unsa buhaton. All you see is unsa ni ka kataw.anan but wa ninyo nakita unsay use, (To those making fun of them, watch yourselves panic and shake because you don't know what to do. All you see is how ridiculous this is, but you don't see its importance)," added one netizen.

The Technologian said that it was the first time students were able to participate in the earthquake drill.

"The students and faculty were encouraged to duck, cover, and hold during their synchronous classes as a way to simulate the proper procedure on what to do during an earthquake," it said in a Facebook post.

As of posting, the post got over 5,000 reactions and over 3,000 shares.
