Puerto Princesa's Sheridan resort and spa announces closure

Sheridan Beach Resort and Spa, one of the luxury accommodation establishments in Puerto Princesa, Palawan, announced the closure of its operations beginning Saturday, March 20.

In a statement posted on its Facebook page, Sheridan announced that it will no longer continue the operations of the beach resort located in Sabang Beach.

The management also took the chance to thank its guests that they have served over the years, as well as the staff and personnel of the resort hotel.

"Through the years, it’s been our pride and joy to welcome travelers from all over the country and across the world who have come to experience the beauty and wonder of Palawan," the statement read.

"We would like to thank all of our guests, many of whom have returned to Sheridan time and time again. To the people of Sabang who welcomed us with open arms, it’s been our privilege to be a part of your wonderful community. Most of all, to the men and women who make up the Sheridan team words cannot express our profound gratitude for your service and loyalty," it added.

Based on its website, Sheridan is the first green resort in the Philippines known to champion environmental sustainability in Sabang Beach in Puerto Princesa which is one of the country's most protected areas.

It is also located near the world-famous Puerto Princesa Underground River National Park -- a UNESCO World Heritage Site and also one of the new 7 Wonders of Nature.

Although the hotel did not specify the reason for its closure, the travel and tourism industry has been among the hardest-hit by the current health crisis.
Several hotels have announced their closure since January this year due to the continuing effects of the ongoing pandemic.
