Two familiar faces will not be present when Onic PH plays in the MPL Philippines Season 7, but the team is eager to move forward with its new players.

Charismatic captain Johnmar "OhMyV33nus" Villaluna and core Danerie James "Wise" Del Rosario, known as the "V33Wise" tandem, moved to Blacklist International following Onic's fourth place finish last season.

The two-time MPL runner-up team nonetheless got talented pros to fill in the holes they left.

Onic acquired Blacklist's prodigious jungler Kairi "Kairi" Rayosdelsol (also known as FULL CLIP), Execration's core-turned-mage Jaylord "Hate" Gonzales and amateur star Marky "Markyyyyy" Capacio.

Vetaran tank Jason "Jay" Torculas, a SEA Games gold medalist, took the captainship role left by OhMyV33nus while side laners Gerald "Dlar" Trinchera and Joshwell "Iy4knu" Manaog remained with the team.

Kyle "Ryo" Berceño, an MPL champion with ArkAngel in Season 3, is still the coach of the team and helping him is analyst-caster Caisam "Wolf" Nopueto.

With new faces on board, Dlar said they are slowly but surely building their chemistry.

"May different playstyles kami tapos inaaral namin 'yun. Doon na pumapasok sila coach at analyst namin para sabihin kung paano magtutugma-tugma yung galaw namin (We have different playstyles and we study them. That's where our coach and analyst come in to help us sync our moves)," he said during MPL Philippines' Bootcamp Raid with Wolf and Adrian "Butters" Jison.

Dlar and the crew are set to battle it out with Smart Omega, Execration, Nexplay Esports and Laus Playbook Esports in Group B.

Onic begins its campaign against reigning MPL and world champion Bren Esports in the main game on Saturday, March 20, at 6 p.m.
