Mayor Vico Sotto unveils plan for Pasig's bike lanes

Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto unveiled on Thursday (March 18) the city's plan for its bike lane to provide cyclists a safer area to ride, especially as more and more people transition to cycling amid the limited supply of public transportation due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

On his official Twitter account, Sotto posted the city government’s plan to reduce car lanes and build a bike lane beside the motorcycle lane along J. Vargas St.

"Although some car owners will continue to complain and ask for the three car lanes back in J. Vargas, two car lanes plus motorcycle lane and bike lane will actually have a higher carrying capacity," Sotto said.

Last March 16, Brgy. San Antonio opened Pasig's first bike repair station as support to the growing cycling community in the city.

The bike repair station is located along F. Ortigas Jr. road, formerly Emerald Avenue, near Ortigas Park.
