2 kids killed, 13 houses lost in Tandag City fire


BUTUAN CITY – Two children died when they were trapped in a fire that razed 13 houses in Tandag City, Surigao del Sur Wednesday.

In a statement, the local government said the fire on Tello St., Barangay Bongtud started at around 6 a.m. and affected 17 families.

It said the two fatalities – a seven-year-old boy and his four-year-old sister – were trapped inside their house and died during the fire.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) is still determining the cause of the fire and the damage to property.

Tandag City Mayor Roxanne C. Pimentel inspected the area and assured the victims of immediate financial assistance and relief aid.
