The Mandaluyong City government on Wednesday, March 17, launched its first molecular diagnostic laboratory located at the National Center for Mental Health (NCMH) to help in the detection of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and other illnesses.
Mandaluyong City Mayor Menchie Abalos, together with City Health Officer Dr. Alex Sta. Maria and other local government officials were present during the launching..
Sta. Maria said the laboratory is not just for COVID-19 testing but also for the testing and diagnostic of other illnesses.
"This is not just solely for COVID po. Magdadagdag lang ho tayo ng machine, magdadagdag lang ng kits (We'll just add machines and kits). It can be used by the Mandaluyong City Medical Center and even NCMH for mga cardiac enzymes, lipid profile. So marami po syang purpose (So it has a lot of). This is a very useful laboratory." Sta. Maria said.
As of March 16, the city has recorded 509 active COVID-19 cases, 6,662 recoveries, and 213 deaths.
