CEBU CITY—Contrary to rumors that had been circulating in the past two weeks, Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia is coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)-free.

The governor underwent a COVID-19 test last Tuesday and her real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test yielded negative of SARS-CoV-2.
The result was posted on the Facebook page of Sugbo News, the province’s media arm.
“The governor took the RT-PCR test yesterday (Tuesday) as a requirement to attend an out-of-town meeting with a very important person tonight (Wednesday night,” the post read.
Last week, rumors had it that the governor was airlifted to Manila after contracting the disease.
At the time that the rumors circulated through social media platforms, the governor was seen attending meetings at the Capitol.
There was also a time last year when the governor made public her swab test results after she was rumored to have been infected with the virus.
The results then showed that the governor tested negative of the disease.
